Biographies

Peter Riley

Peter’s knowledge of Music Hall and Bing Crosby songs was formed on his Grandmother’s knee. In the late 80’s he appeared at the first Burnley Blues Festival, and in the pubs of Oldham and Manchester began to learn stagecraft.

As front-man and main songwriter with The Winchesters, Peter showed up at lots of festivals and on Primetime TV. Forming The Swing Commanders, he wanted a musically versatile, visual and energetic band. His dream came true!

Gaynor Sutcliffe

After studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, Gaynor wowed Texan audiences becoming the first British competitor to appear at Halletsville state fiddle contest, Texas where she shared a stage with original Bob Wills Texas Playboys.

As the pianist, fiddle player and main song arranger, her energy, powerful vocals, piano accordion solos and double bass extravaganzas have also added a dynamic impact to the band’s live performances, along with the occasional appearance of the trombone. Watch out for the odd tap solo for extra effect!

Gaynor has also been awarded the British Country music association Musician of the year award 2011!

Simon Brady

Simon Brady is not only acknowledged as the best mandolin player on the British Country Music scene, but also became the BCMA’s ‘Musician of the Year in 2010.

Previously a member of Country duo, ‘Broadcaster’ and a session musician in demand, Simon now takes on the role of lead guitarist with the Swing Commanders, also impressing audiences with his mandolin, and lap steel solos, as well as his superb vocals.

Siena Lloyd

Before joining the Swing Commanders, Siena, a professional actress, could be found on our screens, appearing in Channel 4’s, Hollyoaks among other things, or touring UK Theatres, so it’s only natural that she would add a touch of “drama” to the band!

On vocals, saxophone, clarinet, piano, double bass, and not forgetting the cowbell, Siena has her work cut out for her. However she still finds time to contribute to the musical arrangements, the styling and presentation, and the band’s social and online networking.

Mark Warburton

Prior to joining the band in 2005, Mark performed and recorded extensively all over the world as a session drumming ace alongside Gloria Gaynor, Errol Brown, Future Funk Squad, The Goodbye Plot, Snoop Dogg, Atomic Kitten and Orbital.

Mark has played at the world famous Glastonbury festival three times, toured for 6 months with the Danish National Circus and has led the resident band at the world famous Blackpool Tower Circus.

In the role of Drummer & Vocalist, Mark brings a wealth of diverse experience to the band that few can equal. He also performs in his own world class jazz quartet called Harlem’s Disciples.
